Word
Card Software is a multipurpose early literacy software
program that will produce word recognition worksheets, Rapid
Automatic Naming (RAN) sheets, Bingo boards, and an illustrated poem
coloring book that teaches short vowels. This software allows you to
quickly create word recognition worksheets that also teach students
to follow directions related to test-taking while utilizing locatives
and the 8 basic colors. To support development of auditory
processing skills, students can also be required to verbally imitate
the directions to expand auditory memory and learn to re-auditorize
the directions mentally. The Word Card Software will also create
customized Rapid Automatic Naming (RAN) sheets containing shapes,
numbers, letters/phonemes, or any vocabulary words desired. Likewise,
Bingo boards containing shapes, numbers, letters/phonemes, or any
desired vocabulary can also be produced quickly using the Word Card
Software. The Short Vowel Sound Poem coloring book can be printed
from the software with a few quick keystrokes. This material helps
students learn the 5 short vowel sounds and provides an association
to support memory of the sounds.
Word Card Software is easy to use. Tutorials that demonstrate screen captures of the process used in each Word Card activity are included as well as an on screen written tutorial that may be printed out. Creating any kind of Word Card worksheet or activity can be completed and printed in minutes and can be customized to the needs of the students. This material was co-developed and used in kindergarten, first, and second grade Response to Intervention (RtI) programs for over five years by co-author, Anita Marcott, CCC-SLP. It is practical, user friendly, and an affordable way to produce materials for use with individual students, small groups, and for the classroom.
